The Social security Fund of Rwanda SSFR has donated 5,591 books to different schools in Rwanda. The books worth an estimated value of 100mFRW were given to UMUTARA POLYTECHNIC, ECOLE SAINT JOSEPH KICUKIRO, SOS RWANDA, and APAPEC-IREBERO
Announcing the donations at a ceremony to formalize the
Handover the Director General of SSFR Mr. Henry GAPERI said that the decision to give the books arose from the need expressed by the benefiting schools.
'It is not because SSFR didn’t need the books but we felt these schools needed them most.' Mr. GAPERI added.
He further said that the Fund is aware that Government through the National curriculum development centre is doing what it is required to provide Students with enough and relevant books to provide them with the education they need
to build the country but it is also good to support these efforts.
'We know we have a duty to support the community, it is also part of the SSFR's corporate social responsibility plan that will see the Fund move into more social interventions' he further said.
According to officials from SSFR, the intention was to support schools and students acquire the rather, expensive books otherwise not within the reach of most schools.
The books donated are in the categories of Technology, Law, -Accounting, management, political science, Novels, Medicine, Economics, Dictionaries cartoons, Encyclopedia, History and Geography
SSFR has so far made a contribution of 75mFRW to different social interventions, such as the returnees from Tanzania and the flood victims in NYABIHU district.
In the strategic plan the Fund has identified areas in which we shall intervene and respond.
Meanwhile, as part of appreciating the public for their continued support the Social Security Fund of Rwanda SSFR wishes to thank and congratulate all workers and employers for their contribution to the development of Rwanda. SSFR also acknowledges their corporation during the year 2007; we wish to in particular recognize all clients for their compliance in paying Social Security contribution for workers.
